Carleader Introduces Multi-Signal Side View Camera with Starlight or Infrared Night Vision

Commercial vehicle camera projects are becoming increasingly diverse. A fleet operator may use an AHD monitor and MDVR on one vehicle, an IP-based video system on another, while a wireless camera solution may be preferred for a different installation. This means that Vehicle Camera suppliers and system integrators often need to work with several different video architectures rather than one standardized configuration. Carleader's Multi-Signal Side View Camera with Starlight or Infrared Night Vision was developed around this requirement. The CL-815 can be configured with AHD, CVBS, IPC or Wireless Signal, allowing the appropriate version to be selected according to the vehicle monitoring system. Importantly, these are optional configurations rather than four simultaneous outputs from one standard camera. The required signal version should be selected according to the customer's existing equipment and system architecture.

A Wider Choice for Truck and Commercial Vehicle Camera Systems

Side visibility is particularly important for trucks, buses, trailers and other large commercial vehicles, where the driver may not have a clear view of the areas alongside the vehicle. The CL-815 provides a 140° viewing angle to cover a broad area beside the vehicle. This makes it suitable for applications where a Truck Side View Camera, Commercial Vehicle Side Camera or Blind Spot Camera is required. The camera can be positioned as part of a wider Vehicle Camera System, working together with front-view, rear-view and cabin cameras to provide more complete vehicle visibility.

Typical applications include:

  • Truck Side View Camera
  • Truck Blind Spot Camera
  • Commercial Vehicle Camera
  • Bus Side Camera
  • Trailer Side Camera
  • Fleet Camera System
  • Vehicle Surveillance Camera
  • Vehicle Monitoring Camera

Starlight or Infrared: Two Different Approaches to Night Vision

Nighttime vehicle monitoring does not always require the same imaging technology. For customers who want to maintain color imaging in very low-light conditions, the CL-815 offers a Starlight version. The official specification lists the Starlight configuration at 0 LUX without LED, making it suitable for applications where preserving color information at night is important. For environments where active illumination is preferred, the Infrared version uses 10 IR LEDs and has a specified illumination of 0.5 LUX.

This gives fleet operators and system integrators two different approaches when selecting a Night Vision Vehicle Camera:

1. Starlight Color Night Vision — designed for extremely low-light color imaging without infrared LEDs.

2. Infrared Night Vision — uses 10 infrared LEDs for monitoring in dark environments.

The two options allow the same camera platform to be configured according to the actual night-monitoring environment.

From AHD Camera to IPC and Wireless Vehicle Camera

One of the major differences between the CL-815 and a conventional side-view camera is its range of available signal architectures.

  • AHD Vehicle Camera

The AHD configuration is suitable for vehicle monitoring systems using HD analog video and can support AHD720P and AHD1080P video configurations.

  • CVBS Vehicle Camera

For vehicles using conventional analog equipment, the CVBS configuration can be integrated into existing CVBS-based vehicle camera systems.

  • IPC Vehicle Camera

The IPC version is designed for vehicle surveillance projects using IP/network video architecture, making it relevant to customers moving toward network-based vehicle monitoring.

  • Wireless Vehicle Camera

The Wireless Signal configuration can be selected for vehicle applications where wireless video transmission is required.

This multi-system approach allows one camera family to address different Vehicle Camera Systems, Fleet Monitoring Systems and Commercial Vehicle Surveillance projects.

A Flexible Camera for Fleet Integrators

For a fleet equipment supplier, the challenge is not always finding a camera with the highest resolution. Compatibility with the customer's existing system can be equally important. A fleet may contain different vehicle types and different generations of monitoring equipment. A Multi-Signal Side View Camera can give integrators more flexibility when specifying cameras for different projects. For example, an AHD version can be selected for a truck using an AHD monitor and MDVR, while an IPC version can be considered for a network-based vehicle surveillance project. A wireless version can be selected when a wireless transmission architecture is required. This makes the CL-815 relevant not only as a Side View Camera, but also as a flexible component for broader Fleet Camera Systems and Vehicle Monitoring Solutions.

140° Coverage for Blind-Spot Monitoring

Blind spots remain a practical concern for large commercial vehicles, particularly around the side of trucks and trailers. The CL-815's 140° viewing angle provides broad side coverage and can be used to supplement the driver's direct field of view. When combined with an appropriate vehicle monitor or recording system, the camera can provide additional visual information around areas that are difficult to observe directly. This makes the 140° Side View Camera suitable for truck blind-spot monitoring, commercial vehicle side monitoring and fleet safety camera installations.

IP69K Protection for Exterior Vehicle Installation

Side cameras are normally installed outside the vehicle, exposing them to rain, road spray, dust and other environmental conditions. The CL-815 features IP69K waterproof and dustproof protection, making it suitable for exterior vehicle camera installations. The camera is specified for an operating temperature range of -20°C to +75°C with RH95% maximum, while the storage temperature range is -30°C to +85°C. Its compact 94 × 69 × 40 mm housing also allows it to be installed in areas where mounting space is limited.

Applications for Trucks, Buses, Vans and Trailers

The Multi-Signal Side View Camera is designed for a broad range of commercial vehicle applications, including:

  • Truck Blind-Spot Monitoring

Provides additional side visibility around heavy-duty trucks and semi-trucks.

  • Commercial Vehicle Camera Systems

Suitable for vans, buses, trailers and other commercial vehicles.

  • Fleet Camera Systems

Can be integrated into AHD, CVBS, IPC or wireless fleet monitoring architectures according to the selected configuration.

  • IP Vehicle Surveillance

The IPC version can be considered for network-based vehicle surveillance projects.

  • Wireless Vehicle Monitoring

The wireless configuration is suitable for projects requiring wireless video transmission.

  • Day & Night Side Monitoring

Customers can select Starlight or Infrared according to their night-monitoring requirements.

The development of vehicle monitoring systems is creating demand for cameras that can adapt to different vehicle architectures rather than being restricted to a single signal type. Carleader's Multi-Signal Side View Camera with Starlight or Infrared Night Vision combines this flexibility with 140° wide-angle coverage, two night-vision options and IP69K protection. With AHD, CVBS, IPC and Wireless configurations available, the CL-815 can be specified for different Truck Camera, Side View Camera, Blind Spot Camera, Fleet Camera and Commercial Vehicle Camera projects. For vehicle electronics distributors, fleet integrators, installers and commercial vehicle manufacturers looking for a flexible Vehicle Camera Supplier or Multi-Signal Vehicle Camera Manufacturer, the CL-815 provides a platform that can be adapted to different monitoring architectures and operating environments.
