What is the difference between MDVR and DVR?
DVR (digital video recorder) and MDVR (mobile digital video recorder) are both video recording devices, but they differ in the following aspects:
Application - DVR systems are intended for fixed use in a fixed location such as a home, office, or community. MDVR systems, on the other hand, are intended for use in moving vehicles such as buses, vans, and other heavy-duty vehicles.
Installation - DVR systems are usually installed in a fixed location and require wiring. MDVR systems are generally more rugged because they need to withstand vibrations during transportation. They are also designed to operate over a wide temperature range.
Video Input - DVR systems are typically used with a single camera input. MDVR systems can accept multiple camera inputs, typically 4 to 16 channels,
Storage - DVR systems usually have different storage capacities for different applications. MDVR systems are typically digital video recorders with higher storage capacity that are specifically designed to withstand the vibrations associated with movement.
Management software - The MDVR system uses specialized software. The camera will provide GPS positioning, which can detect abnormal events and maintain real-time network communication between the device and the control center.
Connectivity - DVR systems typically use wired Ethernet or Wi-Fi connections. MDVR systems usually use wireless or network to transmit data.
